Labor Day!

Okay so I have been MIA(MISSING IN ACTION) for a couple of days, but I have tried to take advantage and work hard during this Labor Day weekend. After San Diego Chargers baller Shawne Merriman was arrested this weekend for allegedly assaulting and falsely imprisoning Tila Tequila (Tila Nguyen), his attorneys are speaking out. He was released later that day. Merriman’s attorney denied the allegations, saying more than a dozen other people were at Merriman’s house in suburban San Diego, California, at the time of the incident and “witness after witness after witness will back up his story 100 percent. According to CNN:

Deputies didn’t see any physical injuries on Nguyen, but she asked to be transported to a local hospital, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Caldwell said. Nguyen’s condition was not immediately known.

Merriman’s attorney, Todd Macaluso, told reporters that Nguyen was “extremely intoxicated and inebriated” and that the player tried to make arrangements for her to leave the house.

“At no time did Mr. Merriman assault her. At no time did Mr. Merriman keep her against her will,” Macaluso said. “His intentions were nothing but good. … We’re very confident that this matter will be resolved without any charges being filed whatsoever.”

At 13 he was selling crack. By 30 he was a hip-hop legend—having gone, in his words, “from grams to Grammys.” Now Jay-Z charts his escape from the hard-knock life, describes the reunion that healed the wounds of his childhood—and even reveals the standing Sunday date he has with what’s her name.

Oprah: So tell me how you got into the drug dealing.

Jay-Z: It was natural.…

Oprah: Because drug dealers were your role models. There wasn’t a teacher or a lawyer or a nurse or a doctor or an accountant in the neighborhood?

Jay-Z: Well, we were living in Marcy by then, so, no. And if anyone did become something like that, they moved out. They never came back to share the wisdom of how they made it. If anyone made it, you never knew it. That’s why I’ve always said that if I became successful, I’d come back here, grab somebody, and show him how it can be done.

Oprah: So by the time you were 13, this was a way of life. Did the lifestyle frighten you?

Jay-Z: No. It was normal. And at some point, you become addicted to the feeling. The uncertainty and adrenaline and danger of that lifestyle.

Oprah: This is where we differ. This is where we differ. Because I’d be very scared! Weren’t you shot at three times—within six feet—and you lived to talk about it?

Jay-Z: That was divine intervention. Divine intervention, and nobody knowing how to shoot.

Oprah: What happened in each situation?

Jay-Z: It was one situation, three shots.

Oprah: So he was a bad shot.

Jay-Z: Well, no one really practices shooting a TEC-9 machine gun, right? And when you’re a kid, with little bony arms—no wonder nobody could aim.

Oprah: Many of the little boys who grew up in the Marcy projects are either in jail or dead. Why do you think you got to grow up and buy your mom a house?

Jay-Z: There’s the gift, there’s the spirit, and there’s the work—all three have to come together. If one of those things is off, it can stop you from becoming who you were meant to be.

Oprah: When I met you a few years ago, we discussed our disagreement over the use of the N word and misogynist lyrics in rap music. Do you believe that using the N word is necessary?

Jay-Z: Nothing is necessary. It’s just become part of the way we communicate. My generation hasn’t had the same experience with that word that generations of people before us had. We weren’t so close to the pain. So in our way, we disarmed the word. We took the fire pin out of the grenade.

Former First Daughter Jenna Bush Hager is reportedly becoming a member of the press.
The daughter to former President George W. Bush is NBC's newest correspondent on the "Today" show, the Associated Press reports. Jenna, a Baltimore school teacher and two-time published author, will be covering stories on education once a month for the morning show.
"It wasn't something I'd always dreamed to do," she told the AP. "But I think one of the most important things in life is to be open-minded and to be open-minded for change."

According to People magazine Michael Jackson spent some of his final years in Las Vegas and now he'll forever be cemented in the city's legacy.

The King of Pop was posthumously awarded a star on the Palms Casino Resort's Walk of Fame Saturday – which would have been his 51st birthday – while his father, Joe Jackson, and a smattering of fans looked on.

"I wish he was here to see this take place," Joe Jackson said of the son who died June 25. Police have labeled the death a homicide.

I love the way this new chapter in life is unfolding and blossoming little by little! I Recall couple of weeks ago Bishop Walker saying that the "THING" your wanting out of life is right there waiting on you to grab it and claim it. He also talked about how certain people come into your life for a reason, season, or lifetime basically in a nut shell. People who I thought were out for my best interest, sometimes are found to be FRENEMIES or FAKE. People who are so called sisters will turn around and talk about you behind your back and STAB U. However , I'm grateful to GOD FOR THE POSITIVE PEOPLE GOD BROUGHT INTO MY LIFE WHETHER IT BE A reason, season , or lifetime. That's my Testimony hour for today..so you know what time it is? LISA HARTWELL and Nene took a trip to Ingelwood always up to nooo GOOD.. to visit Lisa's family and Grandma. She mad a hard choice in visiting her brother's gravesite. I for one can relate it's always hard to go see someone very close in the family at their tombstone. Brings a lot of feelings and emotions out of us all. Sheree well let's just say she has some loose ends to fill with the fashion show b/c those girls were not ready?!

Hope everyone had a great Tuesday! Today August 25, 2009 is a very special day in my mind, because it was 8 years ago to date that R and B Singer Aaliyah was taken away was killed in plane crash coming back from the Bahamas. She always exuded so much Beauty, Fashion, and Style..she was truly an Angel. I mean I can't recall one time where she came off like a diva or had a problem with anyone. I have so many memories when I think of Aaliyah. In high school, we always wore the dark loc shades and the hair over our left eye. ( fun times lol) In addition, I would say that it hit me hard when she died b/c it was the same year I started college.

I even did my first presentation on Aaliyah and I had a fly intro where I played her first album "INtro" from "One in A Million," where they spelled out her name A-A-L-I-Y-A-H! Needless, to say I did get that day. So all today I noticed on Twitter Aaliyah was a trending topic and it was great seeing all the love, memories, pictures, and videos..so I couldn't resist so here are some of my favorite videos and pics.

CHRIS BROWN IS SENTENCED TODAY



POP singer Chris Brown was sentenced today to 5 years porbation and he has to complete 1,400 hours in labor services in his state. Well I think he got off pretty easy. Today I heard that Dr. Conrad was CHARGED of homocide with Michael Jackson's death.. man that's soo tragic and sad. Word is MJ died from a deadly overdose of Proprofol( a sedative that makes you sleep). The doc claimed he was using it to treat Mike's insomnia.. And to think this doctor actually went to school at Meharry College right here in Nashville, TN. Makes us look bad.. He can kiss his life and career bye bye! Also, I recall hearing on TOM Joyner MORNING SHOW a couple of weeks ago, that he was also the doctor of James Brown and his Wife.. WHOMP WHOMP.. GO FIGURE THEY BOTH Died!

I'M BACK!

YES ITS ME AGAIN! I'm back from my peaceful, beautiful and dreamy vacation from Miami. I had a fantastic trip and I just wish it would have been a little longer. It's funny how time flies when your having fun and leaving all your worries behind. At any rate, I'm back and I welcome all the newcomers who have visited my blog page. Congrats to J HUDSON! SHE WELCOMED HER FIRST BORN CHILD WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE A BOY SO OF COURSE NATURALLY HE WAS NAMED AFTER HIS FATHER "PUNK" (reality series I Love New York 2) David Daniel Otunga, Jr. He was 7lbs 14oz.. so happy for them!
